Grasim is a major player in the Indian viscose filament yarn business. The unit enjoys a 43% domestic market share, making it largest producer of viscose filament yarn in India.
Branded 'Raysil'(formerly RayOne), the viscose filament yarn is available in more than 600 shades. The yarn comes in a wide array of colours, including natural whites. It ranges from the purest tints, through medium tones to vibrant deep shades in fine to coarse deniers ranging from 75 to 1200.
With a capacity of 19,800 tonnes per annum (tpa), Grasim is the first in the country to adopt the most advanced VFY technology with 88 pot spinning machines (PSY) and 17 continuous spinning machines on parallel yarn. Its recently expanded superfine yarn unit will help in enhancing product quality and range.
It also accounts for 55% of VFY exports from India making it the largest exporter of VFY from India.
