Birla Cellulosic provides a helping hand for the underprivileged
Birla Cellulosic, Kharach, organises a special programme of distribution of blankets in Koba and Balota villages and conducts a free eye check-up camp for the underprivileged
A total of 450 beneficiaries comprising 169 female and 281 male members were supported during the blanket distribution programme, conducted at Koba and Balota villages, to mark the occasion of Pujya Kakoji (Shri Basant Kumar Birla’s 98th birthday on 12th January 2019).
The members of Birladham Ladies Club distributed the blankets in the presence of the village sarpanch and respective village leaders.
The CSR team of Birla Cellulosic also conducted a free eye check-up camp at Kharach village, Bharuch (district) in Gujarat. The camp was held in association with Divya Jyoti Trust, an NGO in Mandavi on 23rd January 2019.
A total of 537 patients were examined during the camp — out of which 25 were referred for cataract surgery. Free medicines were distributed to 40 villagers and 425 lenses and spectacles were distributed to those diagnosed with vision impairment.
The camp was a huge success with Birla Cellulosic helping out those who were unable to afford expensive medicines and treatment.
